Travel in Norway - Oslo and Prekestolen
Introduction
year rental programs I had, so I thought I would spend the month of August doing two or three days every now and then in various places, but in July I contact his friend "Giobart" (John Bartoli ) asked if I wanted to do a drive somewhere in Europe.
Norway thus became the destination for a trip of 15 days, mostly photographic background, of course.
Oslo and Prekestolen
I start traveling on the afternoon of Sunday, August 8 and reach John at his house, where he slowly begins to charge the car. At about 18 we start, we get over Switzerland, a piece of Austria and then began the endless Germany. We give the leadership changes at midnight and pull up to the first ferry in the early morning. Here we can relax for 40-50 minutes, during the journey by ship, then we take the car and walk along a stretch of Denmark to the second ferry, and then, once on land, along the direction of Sweden in Oslo.
We stopped an hour to eat and relax, we will continue.
arrive in the area around Oslo in mid-afternoon Monday, 9, here we begin to look a place to stay. Unfortunately, the budget I have available is very limited and the prices of Hytte (log cabins) in the first campsite we are asking are quite high. We decide to look for a hostel in Oslo, but even here prices are not exactly cheap, as well as to be a full house. At the end
take place in a tent camp near Oslo.
We would like to make us the dough, but we do not have pots, so we must again feed us with sandwiches and the like.
After dinner it's time to take some pictures at sunset.
Let's go back to the tent waiting the dark, just a little 'relaxation and then tried to photograph the lights of Oslo.
now When it's late and cool, we tucked into sleeping bags, set your alarm, ear plugs and we can sleep.
We wake up early in the morning, prepare a quick coffee, we remove everything, take a shower, we load our stuff into the car and we go to visit the city.
parked near the station, just take the photo backpacks and started shooting. Oslo frankly not impressed me much, only a city like many others, a bit 'modern and a bit' old. It has the royal villa worst I've ever seen, completely devoid of decorations and the structure of a rectangular block. The only things that are worth visiting, including the ones we shot, are the work, which is a modern and unique, and the statute of Vigeland Park, where there are lots of statues of men (women, children, males, the elderly) and naked in strange poses, which should represent the various states of the human soul. Very nice to the obelisk and the whole park in general.
By mid-afternoon we saw the main things that interest us, then we leave the city and continue towards Prekestolen, scored as the best viewpoint in the world.
un'Ikea \u200b\u200bAlong the way there and we decide to stop to take some cooking pots, we find a great offer and buy 3 pots (one large, one medium and a pot) for about 10 €.
After this brief stop off again and we start looking for a cheap camping along the route. Fortunately, the camp of Oslo we are equipped with a free guide really useful and well done, which contains many scattered all over the head to Norway with a rather large map (which was also useful to check the road) on which the number of search camping and a magazine where you can view detailed descriptions on the structures, the presence or absence of certain facilities (such as showers, cooking, etc..), a graphical evaluation of the overall quality and, absolutely crucial and most interesting, the prices! This guide has been a real boon and faithfully accompanied us throughout our journey.
We camp along the way and then finally we can cook a large pot of pasta and eat something decent. In the evening the sky is overcast, so let's forget the photos, we relax a bit 'and then we get to sleep. At night I wake up and hear the sound of rain on the tent, I hope it stops and closes his eyes. Unfortunately it is not, and when the alarm is triggered, the sound of the drops occurs. We put on our raincoats and seek to dismantle the tent as quickly as possible, then give us a system in the bathrooms and we're off.
Along the way the rain comes and goes, but the sky is essentially covered throughout the morning. The views offered by the fjords are very beautiful, it is worth stopping to photograph every five minutes.
When it comes to leadership changes, we take advantage for some quick souvenir photo, between the wind and pioggierella end, then we put ourselves in the street.
Prekestolen arrive in the area in the early afternoon and we go by car to the area where the path starts. The parking fee is of course the cost of the hostel and this is too much for me, though I'd try a nice comfortable bed and the tent must dry.
then go down a few miles to a campsite a little further down, where some sunburst helps us making the tent to dry quickly enough and the fabric.
Our plan is to ascend to the viewing point for sunset, and then, at the end of camp, we just have to wait for hours to begin a journey.
decide to avoid paying parking going up to the point of departure on foot, scored with a navigation that is only 4 km and 40 minutes away on foot more.
While we wait to leave, we read the brochure of the camp that there is an alternative to the paved road that leads to the same point, which is supposed to cut a piece. In
description are told that the trail is a bit 'tight and sometimes wet, and you need a good physical condition, auks we look at each other and we opt for that path.
which seem!
After 20 minutes of paved road and a piece of the trail in good condition, the route starts to become "too" close, doable yes, but with a brush cutter!
Somehow we make way through the invading vegetation, but the worst is yet to come!
Later we discover that the path "wet" is really a unique mud, it would take the boots to go with no problems.
journey so with difficulty, looking for points where you can spend less muddy, but it is really an and dirty is inevitable. When I make a false move and I feel his foot sink into the shoe to the middle thinking, "There he is!", Then I look up and see before me John sinking up to mid-calf!
somehow manages to escape without letting the shoes, but the mud has obviously soiled shoes and socks. We stop just before a rigolo of water, where we try to clean our somewhat ': I have little to do, just a washed to the bottom of the boots and they are right, my partner has a lot to get instead. Let's continue our journey
cursing our choice!
After an hour and 40 minutes of walking, we arrived to the trail for Prekestolen: 2 hours ahead yet walk!
But now we are there at this point makes no sense to hold back. The path to the
Prekestolen is really absurd, like all the paths that I have seen in Norway and how many things are absurd in this country being famous tourist attraction, I was expecting an easy path, perhaps along steep and at times, but well maintained and easily passable, obviously my understanding of family tourism is quite different from the Scandinavian! The trail, as well as being long and quite steep in some places, has some very dangerous step, and I can not comprehend how people and families with small children not "athletic" and with normal shoes (I have even seen people with thongs and guys with All Stars) can reach the top.
Throughout the journey then, John and I often joke with exaggerations on Norvegiesi and standards. At about 19
Prekestolen finally arrive at, after a brief downpour of rain that forced us to wear raincoats.
The view is incredible, the weather conditions change quickly and the light, when the space between the clouds, is already interesting, then immediately started shooting.
between shots and other things we eat some sandwiches, some with a sausage is not too friendly to me and even haunted bag backpack with a smell that seemed anything but sausage. In the mouth however the taste is not so disgusting, luckily.
I still hold me to photograph the clouds tinged with red and purple, as seems to happen, but John wants to get off, then I'm happy to watch the last light on the journey.
The descent is much faster and arrive at the campsite (this time via the paved road) well before that we thought, we take a well deserved shower and then collapsed into our sleeping bags.
